What is Multiple Intelligence? [Part-2]

In the previous blog we looked at four different intelligences from the Multiple Intelligence Framework. In this blog, let us look at the remaining four intelligences .

  1. Interpersonal Intelligence
  2. Intrapersonal Intelligence
  3. Musical-rhythmic Intelligence
  4. Bodily-kinesthetic Intelligence
  1. Interpersonal Intelligence –

Interpersonal intelligence refers to intelligence exhibited during social interactions. Individuals with high interpersonal intelligence are attuned to the feelings of others. They have the ability to judge the other person’s mood and desires. They are also good communicators and are able to lead well.

Students who have a high interpersonal intelligence learn better in the presence of others. They do well in study groups by sharing their experiences and understandings.

  2. Intrapersonal Intelligence –
Intrapersonal intelligence is the opposite of interpersonal intelligence. Individuals with high intrapersonal intelligence understand themselves and their motivations very well. They are also able to regulate their feelings and emotions better than others.Development of intrapersonal intelligence is very important for students so that they are aware of themselves and their feelings.
Students who exhibit high intrapersonal intelligence perform better when they are given time to think and reflect by themselves. They do better on self paced projects as opposed to group projects.

  3. Musical-rhythmic Intelligence –

Musical-rhythmic intelligence is related to the understanding of melody, rhythm and sound. They are able to recognize and remember rhythms and sounds better than others. Individuals with high musical-rhythmic intelligence are normally able to play instruments, sing or compose music well.
Students with a high musical-rhythmic intelligence learn best with the help of rhythms, melodies, songs and music. They also make use of repetition and changing tempo to segregate and highlight information.

  4. Bodily-kinaesthetic Intelligence –

Kinaesthetic refers to a person’s awareness of the position and movement of their body. A person with a high bodily-kinesthetic intelligence has good control of their bodily movements. They exhibit excellent gross motor and fine motor skills. They are able to handle things skillfully.
Students with high bodily kinaesthetic intelligence learn better through movement. They also have a keen awareness of sensory inputs. Therefore, they remember better when they use their sense organs to learn and understand something.

Giving appropriate time to the development of all these intelligences is very important to ensure the holistic development of a child. Therefore, having a mix of activities that focus on gross motor skills, fine motor skills, nature awareness, self-awareness, etc helps a child learn faster and better. At Giggles & Scribbles, we adopt a blend of teaching methods for all learners.
